A biochemical device containing PCBs designed by Dayford has been developed by a multinational company for use in a variety of fields including large scale human genomics, cancer research, microbiology, plant science and environmental research. The electronics provide a combination of high-performance computing, precise temperature control and sensor digitization. It is currently being used to develop a new product specifically for COVID-19 detection/testing

From the engineer:

“I chose Dayford Designs initially because they made a commitment to do everything possible to meet very challenging timescales in my project from schematic design through to assembly .

Dayford worked on 3 PCBAs: The MAIN PCBA provides the interface between sensor electronics and the GPU based processor module, mass storage and thermal control electronics. There are also two accessory PCBAs – 1 flex and 1 rigid that provide connections to sensors not located on the MAIN PCBA. Some of the highlights include gen2 PCI Express, 1000BASE-T Ethernet and USB.

Dayford have subsequently met all commitments  and worked flexibly with my colleagues and I – just like an extension of our team. Communications have been really easy. The product we have worked on has benefitted extensively from the combined design experience at Dayford Designs, robust processes have meant that very few defects have escaped. I have also found the advice and guidance on suppliers invaluable.”
